How to Help
Donate
The main thing you can do to help MIBF is to donate. We are an all-volunteer organization with low overhead costs, so a lot of your donation goes directly to bonding people out. While we are a revolving fund, immigration cases can take up to a decade to wrap up, and the rise of ankle monitors and other Alternatives to Detention have resulted in higher rates of bond breaches thanks to faulty tech. This means that we rely on donations from our community to help keep our community safe—but also that your donation can help free more than one person, as it returns to us over time.
If you would prefer to donate via check, please make it out to the Midwest Immigration Bond Fund and mail to 1 East Erie Street, Suite 525-4960, Chicago, IL 60611.
If you would prefer to donate via an ACH or bank transfer, please email mwbondfund@gmail.com, and someone from our team will be in touch shortly.
Fundraise & Community Build
In the time that we have been an organization, we have had community members hold all kinds of fundraisers for us—from big things like benefit concerts, pop-up dinners and merch sales to more intimate things like dinner parties and book clubs. The best and most successful fundraisers is the one you can put on, and that brings people together. As an organization that practices mutual aid, the increasingly high bond rates we are seeing are only possible when many of us come together to bring our community home.
The resources at the right are logos for any event graphics you might want to make, as well as fliers about MIBF that some supporters created to put up around their neighborhoods.
If you have questions or want to let us know about a fundraiser you’re planning, feel free to email us at mwbondfund@gmail.com.
