Local Artist Supporting Immigrant Rights
Please check out the article "The Product of Immigrants" from South Side Weekly by Alonso Vidal where he highlights three Chicago-based Latine artists who use their creative work to advocate for immigrant rights. 2 of these artists, Alexis Patiño and Gaby Pérez are 2 of several local artists who collaborated with MIBF earlier this year!
Additionally, Jesse Johnson, co-vice president of MIBF, is featured in the article. At the time of the interview, Jesse notes that MIBF bonded out 19 people in 2024 and 16 more in the first 3.5 months of 2025. As of today, MIBF has about doubled that number, freeing 31 people from detention in 2025 and counting!
This reflects a growing community effort to support those affected by immigration enforcement and we are very grateful for support from the community, including artists like Alexis and Gaby!
