2023 In Review

Happy New Year from MIBF! This week, we’re reflecting on our work this past year. Throughout the year, we work to free individuals from ICE detention. In 2023 we more than doubled the number of people freed, posting the bonds for 27 individuals, totaling $110,500. We were able to do this with the support of our community, family members, and grants. This makes the average bond we posted last year: $4,092.

We at MIBF believe that all individuals, without any exceptions, are worthy of dignity and respect and that the detention of all individuals is unjust, unnecessary, and should be abolished. In 2024, we will continue facilitating the revolving immigration bond fund to pay immigration bonds that frees individuals from ICE custody and gather the community to advocate for the abolition of immigration detention and surveillance.
